Skadden has won a further victory on behalf of NTT DOCOMO, Japan's largest telecommunications company, bringing to an end the longstanding dispute with Tata Sons. The High Court in Delhi has ruled that the June 2016 London Court of International Arbitration award in NTT DOCOMO's favor (approximately US$1.2 billion in damages) can be enforced in India, and has approved consent terms between DOCOMO and Tata to this effect. The Court further rejected the Reserve Bank of India's application to intervene in the proceedings.
The Skadden team includes, in New York, Lea Haber Kuck, John Gardiner and Greg Litt; in London, David Kavanagh QC and Genevieve Poirier; and, in Tokyo, Nobu Ishizuka. Khaitan & Co acted as Indian counsel.
