The Burton Awards honored Crowell & Moring partners Jason Crawford, Olivia Lynch, and Brian Tully McLaughlin with Law360’s Distinguished Legal Writing Award for their article on the future of enforcement actions focused on pandemic relief fraud. The award was presented at a gala reception at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. on Monday, May 20.
The authors won the highly respected writing award their article, “No End In Sight For Pandemic Relief Fraud Enforcement.” The award is presented by the Burton Awards program, a national nonprofit organization run in association with the Library of Congress. The awards are presented by Law360 and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association. Just 20 articles were selected from entries submitted by the nation’s 1,000 largest law firms.
Crawford, Lynch, and McLaughlin are all partners in the firm’s Government Contracts Group in the Washington, D.C. office.
Crawford advises and advocates for government contractors, health care organizations, and companies from regulated industries in matters involving civil, criminal, and administrative enforcement, with a particular focus on the False Claims Act (FCA).
Lynch advises government contractors on navigating the procurement process, compliance and ethics, commercial item contracting, accessibility, supply chain assurance, and various aspects of state and local procurement law. She also counsels on Paycheck Protection Program eligibility and represents borrowers in PPP appeals, enforcement matters and False Claims Act cases.
McLaughlin is co-chair of the False Claims Act working group and his experience spans false claims and fraud allegations involving procurement, healthcare, cybersecurity, small business, supply chain, aerospace, DFARS, TAA/Buy American, DoD contracting, and more. He conducts internal investigations and represents clients in government investigations who are facing fraud or False Claims Act allegations.
