Following our update on the draft amendment to the Labour Protection Act in December 2018, the amended Labour Protection Act ("LPA") was published in the Royal Gazette on 5 April 2019, after having been endorsed by His Majesty the King.
The LPA will become effective from 5 May 2019 onwards. Its contents remain the same as the version approved by the NLA in December last year. Please refer to our summary of the main revisions of the LPA in the link provided above. All employers and operators should carefully review and study the LPA and its implications in order to adjust and prepare themselves for when the LPA comes into force on 5 May 2019.
The Ministry of Labour is also preparing its own guidelines on the LPA, which are expected to be available in the near future.
We will keep you informed of any further developments on this matter.
