Baker McKenzie is pleased to announce that partner Dr. Isabella Liu has been appointed to Board of Directors at Hong Kong Genome Institute (HKGI), making her the only representative from the legal sector on the Board. The appointment took effect on 5 November.
The HKGI is a newly-established private company limited by guarantee and wholly owned by the Hong Kong Government with an aim of implementing the Hong Kong Genome Project (HKGP). The HKGP is a largescale genome sequencing project, with a view to enhance the clinical application of genomic medicine to benefit patients and their families and to promote research in genomic medicine and related field to facilitate future medical development in Hong Kong.
About the appointment, Dr. Isabella Liu, who chairs the Firm's Asia Pacific IP and Technology Practice, said, "I am honoured to be elected to the Board. I look forward to bringing my legal expertise to the table, and contributing towards the advancement of genomic medicine in Hong Kong."
