Seramount, formerly Working Mother Media, has named Crowell & Moring one of the “Best Law Firms for Women” for the 11th year in a row. The firm is ranked among 50 firms across the nation for its best practices in recruiting, retaining, promoting, and developing women lawyers, including representation, schedule flexibility, benefits and leave policies supporting women, and sponsorship and mentorship opportunities. In addition, the firm’s ongoing achievements earned it a spot in Seramount’s Hall of Fame.
“We are proud to be recognized once again for our strong, continued commitment to building and retaining a diverse and equitable community, where our women and diverse attorneys can thrive,” said Don Smith, the firm’s Chief Talent & Inclusion Officer. “Through initiatives like our Sponsorship Program, Crowell Rule, and Diversity Pledge, we continue to actively recruit, retain, and provide support and meaningful development opportunities to help advance our women lawyers.”
Crowell has a long history of women in leadership. In 1995, the firm became the first major D.C.-based law firm to elect a female chair, Rosemary Collyer, who later became a judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. The firm’s current management board includes Ellen Moran Dwyer, chair of the firm’s executive committee, and fellow board members Chahira Solh, head of Crowell & Moring’s Orange County office and member of the executive committee, Kirsten L. Nathanson, co-chair of the firm’s Environment & Natural Resources Group, and Jennifer Grady, co-chair of the Corporate Group. In addition, Crowell’s Women’s Leadership Initiative – a network for all of the firm’s women lawyers – provides a number of opportunities for education and allyship engagement across the firm.
