We sincerely welcome new partner Mr. Philip Kwok to our Hong Kong office. His practice focuses on complex commercial litigation and arbitration, regulatory investigations, cybersecurity and data protection, financial technology compliance, electronic data preservation and retention, as well as disputes and regulatory matters for internet and e-commerce businesses. Currently, he is going through the relevant registration formalities.
Mr. Kwok obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Hong Kong, and his Juris Master degree from Peking University. He is a first batch graduate from the E-Commerce Law stream of the Juris Master degree of Peking University, when he participated in various research projects on e-commerce regulatory matters commissioned by the PRC Ministry of Commerce and the National People’s Congress Finance and Economic Committee.
Mr. Kwok was among the first batch of lawyers to pass the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination. Before joining JunHe, he practiced in the Beijing and Hong Kong offices of other international law firms. He is familiar with the legal environments in mainland China, Hong Kong, the United States and other jurisdictions. He has developed extensive experience in complex cross-border commercial dispute resolution, regulatory investigations and compliance, and other technology and e-commerce related disputes, compliance and advisory work. Mr. Kwok has represented many major Chinese and global companies in a number of commercial litigation and regulatory investigation cases, covering the Internet, real estate, securities, funds, pharmaceuticals, food, apparel, telecommunications equipment, banking, manufacturing and other industries.
Mr. Kwok is currently a Member of the InnoTech Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong, and a Lecturer (Non-Clinical) in the Faculty of Law, the University of Hong Kong. He is responsible for the PRC Information Technology and Electronic Commerce Law course primarily for Master of Laws and Juris Doctor students. He frequently writes, lectures and advises clients on issues relating to blockchain technology, cybersecurity, privacy and data protection, digital signatures, virtual identity verification, anti-money laundering issues, and other legal issues in relation to the latest technology.
The addition of Mr. Kwok to our team will further strengthen JunHe’s practice capabilities in the fields of complex commercial litigation and arbitration, regulatory investigations, cybersecurity and data protection, financial technology compliance, electronic data preservation and retention, as well as disputes and regulatory matters for Internet and e-commerce businesses. With the advantages of our integrated platform and giving full play to the “bridgehead” role of Hong Kong to enhance the interconnection of our mainland China and Hong Kong offices, we can continue to provide specialised and high-end legal services to our valued clients.
