Allen & Overy today announces the appointment of Nithi Laophulsuk as a partner in our Bangkok office, with a focus on transactions, contentious and non-contentious work in regulated markets.
Nithi joins from Standard Chartered Bank (Thai) PCL where he was Head of Legal and Compliance. Nithi brings to his new role many years of experience, having previously advised on the development of banking, capital markets and derivative products, licensing and documentation projects, as well as complex disputes, compliance, FCPA and anti-bribery matters. As a result of his vast experience working with regulators such as the Bank of Thailand and the Securities and Exchange Commission, he will be a valuable asset to clients operating, or seeking to operate, in Thailand.
Nithi also brings a wealth of transactional expertise from his time in private practice at Hunton & Williams LLP, where he advised on many significant on shore and cross border banking, M&A and restructuring mandates.
Stephen Jaggs, Managing Partner of A&O’s Bangkok office said: "We are pleased to announce that Nithi will be joining our Thai practice. He is a renowned and highly regarded lawyer in his field and his skills and experience will add to and complement our existing team. This appointment reflects our commitment to provide local depth and outstanding expertise across the areas of law that our clients have said are central to their needs.”
With more than 18 years’ experience in the market, A&O’s first-class team of international and Thai lawyers makes us one of only a few international firms providing a ‘one-stop shop’ for domestic and cross-border work. Our Bangkok office is an integral part of our wider ASEAN network of six offices, where we offer local law capability in Singapore, Vietnam and Indonesia, in addition to Thailand. Beyond these office locations, our Bangkok team has extensive experience in the emerging markets of Myanmar (with our office in Yangon), Laos and Cambodia, where we have been involved in numerous pioneering transactions over many years.
Nithi’s hire follows on from the recent appointment of Lina Lee and Jonathan Hsui as partners in A&O’s Hong Kong office.
