Stephenson Harwood (Singapore) Alliance has strengthened its arbitration practice with the addition of Timothy Cooke as a partner.
"International arbitration is still unquestionably in a period of dynamic growth, and nowhere is this more apparent than Singapore," said Louis Flannery, head of the Stephenson Harwood's international arbitration practice. "We already have a top tier maritime disputes capability there. Timothy's arrival is a vital step in growing our commercial arbitration practice in Southeast Asia further. His experience of managing complex, cross border disputes, will complement our existing global offering perfectly as we expand our ability to support our clients there."
Cooke's practice is focused on international commercial arbitration, based predominantly in Southeast Asia. He brings more than 17 years of experience advising clients in the region in a broad range of disputes, often involving complex, cross-border matters and particularly in the fields of energy and infrastructure, construction and finance, as well as joint venture and other investment disputes. Cooke, who was called to the Bar in 2000, joins the firm from Morgan Lewis Stamford.
"The addition of Timothy strengthens our disputes capabilities in Singapore and Southeast Asia," said Martin Green, managing partner of Stephenson Harwood's Singapore office. "Timothy brings valuable expertise and experience at a time when the demand for arbitration skills is growing."
Stephenson Harwood has a recognised market-leading international arbitration practice, known for its expertise in managing complex and substantial arbitrations worldwide. In the past decade, it has handled some of the most high-profile arbitrations and proceedings to enforce, or resist the enforcement of, arbitral awards before the English, Hong Kong and Singapore courts.
