Stephenson Harwood have announced the appointment of partners King Tak Fung and Ivan Ng from Eversheds in Hong Kong. They are joined by associates Anna Kwong, Emily Li, George Chan, May Tse and Stephanie Poon.
King Tak is one of the world’s doyens of trade finance. Prior to joining the legal profession, King Tak was the Vice President and Head of Trade Finance at Bank of America N.A. He is the author of “Leading Court Cases on Letters of Credit” (published by the ICC in 2005). He is a highly recognisable speaker on matters relating to trade finance and has conducted hundreds of workshops for business executives and professionals all over the world. King Tak is an Accredited General Mediator of the HKIAC and the Law Society of Hong Kong. In addition, he acts as expert witness in Hong Kong and Chinese courts on banking, international trade matters and commercial disputes. King Tak is admitted in Hong Kong and England & Wales and is a member of the Academy of Experts on Banking and Structured Trade Finance. His practice, combined with the trade finance practice of finance partner Mark Reed, will significantly expand the firm’s trade finance capabilities. The aim is to build on their combined strengths in the future by developing the overall trade finance practices in Dubai and Singapore.
Ivan is a commercial litigator with more than 20 years' experience, having been admitted in Hong Kong, England and Wales. He has significant experience in advising on contractual disputes, joint venture disputes and shareholders disputes. In addition, Ivan has extensive experience in insolvency, trade finance and banking litigation. He has also advises clients on commercial fraud, anti-bribery and regulatory investigations matters. Ivan is an accredited CEDR mediator and is on the mediators panel of the Lands Tribunal and Law Society of Hong Kong. Having previously worked at Stephenson Harwood & Lo (as it was then known) during the 1990s, Ivan, who is fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Chiu Chow, is a welcome addition to the contentious restructuring and insolvency practice and allows the firm to serve an even broader range of clients, especially PRC clients. Ivan’s addition will bring further depth to the firm's existing trade disputes capability which is currently undertaken by litigation partner, Andrew Rigden Green.
