Procurement Bill
Following completion of the work of the Public Bill Committee reported in our last update, a new version of the Procurement Bill was published on 24 February 2023.
The Bill is therefore continuing to progress to Royal Assent, which is expected some time in the Spring. Once Royal Assent has been given, there will then need to be a raft of secondary legislation (regulations) to support the new regime and to bring it into effect in its entirety. The government has indicated that there will still be a minimum of 6 months’ notice before the new regime “goes live”, with additional guidance and learning support to be provided to the public sector in the meantime.
You can find a copy of the latest draft of the Procurement Bill and track its progress on Parliament’s website here.
Provider Selection Regime
NHS England has also updated its website to confirm that the Provider Selection Regime, the new regime for procurement of health contracts, is not expected to be in use before July 2023.
