Kazakhstan passed Law No. 72-VIII, addressing women’s rights and child safety, after 3 years of delay. The legislation targets domestic violence, establishing funding for family support centers and criminalising intentional harm and beatings. Employers must offer up to 30 days of unpaid leave for employees seeking assistance from social services. The law, signed by President Kassym Zhomart Tokayev, takes effect on June 16, 2024, with additional amendments effective from January 1, 2025.
